At the end of Pride Month, the NFL released a new ad that clarifies the support and acceptance of the LGBTQ + community.
The 30-second spot begins with the words “Football is gay” with a slight cheer in the background.
âFootball is lesbian. Football is beautiful. Football is strange. Football is life. Football is exciting. Football is a culture. Football is transgender. Football is strange. Football is the heart. Football is power. Football is tough. Football is bisexual. Football is strong. Football is free. Football is American. Football is accepted. Football is everything. Football is for everyone. ”
According to Outsports, this video is a direct response to Carl Nassib’s exit last week. Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Nashib was the first active NFL player to play.
âWe’re proud of the clear message this spot sends to NFL LGBTQ + fans. This game is definitely for you, âSamurai Poport, NFL senior director of diversity, equity and inclusion, told Outsports. .. “I play the front row several times in my head throughout the season.”
Lapoport told USA Today Sports last week, âYou don’t have to fully understand the LGBTQ + experience to be on your side. You don’t have to be an expert in all of the terms. You just have to try.
In addition to last week’s announcement, Nashib donated $ 100,000 to the Trevor Project, a leading national organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention assistance to LGBTQ + youth. Following The Trevor Project’s stated support in advertisements, the NFL reiterated that LGBTQ + youth accepting at least one adult have a 40% lower risk of attempted suicide.
âIf you like this game, we welcome you here,â @NFL wrote on Twitter. âFootball is for everyone. Football is for everyone. The NFL is by the LGBTQ + community today and every day.
