Keanu Reeves is back in your first look at samurai-inspired John Wick 4

Everyone’s favorite grizzled and invincible hero is back.

The first photo from Keanu Reeves’ long-awaited fourth installment in the John Wick series has been released. In it, the not-so-retired hitman appears against a blurred background of candles, his head bowed. Is he in church, praying to the heavens for forgiveness for all the blood he has shed? Or the blood he has on at shed?

Little is known to date about Wick jeans 4, but we imagine things will only get worse for Wick, whose life has been in a tailspin since a group of thugs stole his car and killed his dog at the start of the original film. It was this mischief that brought him out of retirement and eventually led to him becoming “excommunicated” from the assassin order and their refuge, the New York Continental Hotel, where violence is prohibited.

At the end of John Wick: Chapter 3 – ParabellumWick made a deal with fellow assassin The Bowery King (played by his ex-Matrix buddy Laurence Fishbourne) to take down the High Table, basically the Illuminati of the assassin world. So John Wick 4 will likely see this plan implemented.

The other detail we have about the film comes from a little slip from actor Shamier Anderson, who called the film a John Wick: Chapter 4 – Hagakure, which is presumably its full, as yet unreleased title. In Japanese, Hagakure refers to The Samurai Book – a practical and spiritual guide for a warrior, dating back to the 1600s.

Now, we’ve seen just about every type of action under the sun already in this series. Hell, we saw Wick kill a man with a book. But a whole movie of Reeves cutting him with a samurai sword? Were very in it.
