Koei Tecmo and Omega Force posted a Japanese FAQ page Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires official site. This page contains a compilation of questions and answers collected from the Japanese Twitter account in early November 2021. One of the features explained on the page is the ranking system which also determines the activities available in the game.

When a character joins a faction in the Empires games, they will usually start as a regular officer. As they make contributions to the faction through national developments and merits in combat, they can eventually increase their ranks.

All characters will be able to move freely in China in Walk mode, regardless of their rank. However, rank will determine the variety of activities a character can perform within a faction. Those with a general rank or higher will be able to make a suggestion in the advice. Marshals and strategists will also gain the right to organize invasions on their own. During this time, the faction ruler will be the only one who can form alliances.

The FAQ session previously revealed gameplay details like the title system. He also confirmed that Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires will have special stages based on historical battles, such as the Yellow Turbans Rebellion and the Battle of Guandu.

Koei Tecmo also said that the character creation system will have 60 voices, 30 each for male and female characters. But unlike before Empires games, the Dynasty Warriors 9 edition will not have a vocal pitch option. Instead, players will choose from Youth, Adult, and Adult voice tones for each type of quote. The character’s special attacks and Musou will also depend on the assigned preferred weapon.

Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires will be available in Japan and Asia on December 23, 2021, and in North America and Europe on February 15, 2021. The game will appear on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
