apple's antiCAPSLOCK

Jonathan ‘Wolf’ Rentzsch:

Apple’s Caps Lock key has undocumented anti-jab protection.

I’ve been using new Apple Keyboards for three weeks now. I can confirm this behavior.

The blog post has some follow-ups with links to the related blog posts. My question is, did someone put on radr://

Keys for Exposé for New Keyboards

macosxhints.com - Activate all Exposé modes from the aluminum keyboard:

On the new aluminum keyboard, there’s an Exposé control key — F3, which shows all windows. If you’d like to use the other Exposé modes, you can do so by using F3 with modifier keys:

  • Control-F3 will show all windows from the current application
  • Option-F3 will open Exposé’s preferences
  • Command-F3 will show the desktop.

I didn’t know about this. The tip I need is a way to wipe out the ugly glyph on the F3 key.

Backspace and Delete Keys on Mac

I think (or hope) I’m not the only one who has experience with being confused with Delete key and Backspace key on Mac. My first computer is Mac, so when I use Windows, the difference used to bug me a lot. That was until I consult Wikipedia for the two keys. Keyboard-related confusion occurs due to the traditions of good and old typewriters and Unix computers.

Delete key - Wikipedia:

On Macintosh computers, […] the backspace key is called the delete key, while a separate key, also called delete and in the traditional location above the cursor arrows, serves as a forward delete key.
