Flash on IPhone? Sort of

iFlashCard:

This is a very simple native flash card application for your iphone. Follow the installation instructions to get it running on your phone.

This is not Adobe Flash. Just a flash card to learn foreign words or technology terms.

I don’t think Adobe Flash is coming soon. Flash is fairly CPU-intensive. Read John Gruber’s article on Flash on iPhone if interested. Apple and Adobe are separte companies; they don’t always share the interests. Provided that MobileSafari started to support Adobe Flash today, would the sales of the iPhone increase?

Apple Products Specs

Apple has specifications page on support page. Not as good as MacTracker, though.

Speaking of MacTracker, it already has iPhone/iPod touch version. Really neat.

Don't You Know How to Uninstall prefPanes?

Dear Apple: don’t you know how to remove prefPane applications? Installing apps that has an extention, .app, is easy as pie. What about .prefPage apps?

Isolating Issues in Mac OS X

Apple’s Knowledge Base article, describing what you do to identify your problem:

By using the approach here, you can learn how to isolate an issue to its root cause, or at minimum to determine the sequence of events that causes the issue to occur.

Applies to asking for help from friends or any in any other forums.

apple's antiCAPSLOCK

Jonathan ‘Wolf’ Rentzsch:

Apple’s Caps Lock key has undocumented anti-jab protection.

I’ve been using new Apple Keyboards for three weeks now. I can confirm this behavior.

The blog post has some follow-ups with links to the related blog posts. My question is, did someone put on radr://

Keys for Exposé for New Keyboards

macosxhints.com - Activate all Exposé modes from the aluminum keyboard:

On the new aluminum keyboard, there’s an Exposé control key — F3, which shows all windows. If you’d like to use the other Exposé modes, you can do so by using F3 with modifier keys:

  • Control-F3 will show all windows from the current application
  • Option-F3 will open Exposé’s preferences
  • Command-F3 will show the desktop.

I didn’t know about this. The tip I need is a way to wipe out the ugly glyph on the F3 key.

Zooom: Navigating Windows from Your Keybaord

CodeRage:

Zooom provides users the ability to work with any application window using shortcuts for moving, resizing and zooming - which increases your productivity because it’s then much easier to focus on what you really want to be doing!

This takes advantage of Apple’s Accessibility API. I still find a mouse or trackpad a better solution. The problem to me is that most of the keyboard shortcuts are governed by my customization of applications (especially, TextMate). There’s no place for this app to fit in my system.

But I would say this is a great app for those who have a certain disability.

Short URLs for Apple Online Store

You don’t have to bookmark your country’s Apple online store URL, which is lengthy and no-so-clean. I don’t find any reason to see WebObjects in every URL.

Not a problem at all for US residents. You can visit http://store.apple.com or http://apple.com/store.

For Japanese, you can visit http://apple.com/japanstore. Apple Japan Website is located at http://apple.com/jp, but you can still type in the old address http://apple.co.jp.

Going to the store directly helps me a lot because Apple has been putting auto-starting QuickTime movie ads on the home page, which aggravates me quite a lot.
